Scot Ranger Returns to Scotline Fleet

Scotline are pleased to announce that the new Scot Ranger has been delivered!

We are very happy to confirm that Scotline Marine Holdings have taken delivery of the new Scot Ranger, so the name returns to the Scotline fleet.

Despite the tough year that was 2020, we’ve been working tirelessly not to break our commitments to renewing the Scotline fleet. In the last few years we’ve taken delivery of both the Scot Carrier and Scot Explorer. We’ve now received the third in this series of newbuild vessels from Royal Bodewes Shipyard in Hoogezand, MV Scot Ranger. Her arrival shows our continuing commitment to fleet improvements and to providing the best possible service levels.

This vessel is a close sister to the previous 2, however with one important difference. MV Scot Ranger will have ice class 1A (Finnish and Swedish Ice Class Regulations 2010), meaning that she can continue to support our services from the Baltic during the tough winter months.

The launch of MV Scot Ranger was on 6th November 2020. Sadly it wasn’t possible for us to attend this event as we normally would, for obvious reasons. We’re very grateful to Ria, the vessel’s Godmother, for accepting the role and giving a lovely speech to the small assembly, before officially christening then launching the vessel. That can be seen here:

Thanks to the Shipyard for the beautiful photography during the launch!

Following the launch came some very challenging weeks of work, with the vessel sat alongside. This period is needed to complete final mechanical works, outfitting and testing, before she is ready for sea trials. It is a credit to the shipyard and the superintendent from Intrada, how quickly these works were completed and to such a high standard!

After the completion of the sea trials and debugging anything that is found, the vessel is ready for handover.

I’m sure most of you will remember the original Scot Ranger. She was the first newbuild vessel ever commissioned by Scotline, received by us in 1997. She was also sadly the last vessel built at Yorkshire Dry Drock in Hull. After 22 years of service with Scotline, we decided to sell her in 2019. It is however nice for us to retain the name for this brand new, state of the art vessel.

We wish her a good and productive lift, with fair winds and following seas!
